About the Center:
The resource center is staffed by Connie Jones, our Consultant. Connie is a certified teacher of Early Childhood Education and a Children's Librarian. The center is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care's Coordinated Family and Community Engagement grant.Hours for the Resource Center vary weekly. Our center is very responsive to providers' needs for flexible and extended hours, so please contact Connie Jones at charlesrivercpc@gmail.com to set up an appointment.
Our Resources
The CRCPC Resource Center is stocked with a wide variety of materials intended to enrich the lives and the learning of young children. Here is just a sample of what parents and providers can find!

Early Childhood Resource Center at the Norfolk Public Library
The Early Childhood Resource Center is funded by the Massachusetts Dept. of Early Education and Care and is housed at the Norfolk Public Library. This center contains a wide variety of materials, services, and programs for teachers, administrators, students, child care providers, and parents who work with young children. Professional resource books, parenting books, videos & dvds, teaching curriculum kits, themed picture books, big books, and many other items are available for borrowing at no charge. Glossary
CDA - The CDA (Child Development Credential) is a competency-based, nationallyrecognized credential awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition in
Washington, DC.
CPC - Community Partnerships for Children was the original grant program from
which the current CFCE grant program has evolved. This program encouraged
communities to build a local system of high quality early education and care.
CFCE - Coordinated Family and Community Engagement is a grant program from the
Department of Early education and care challenging local communities to reach
out to the neediest families at the local level while ensuring high quality early
education and care opportunities form the foundation for young learners in and
out of childcare.
CCR&R - Childcare Resource and Referral Agencies are currently managing
tuition subsidies at the regional level and maintaining a substantial database on
families in financial need and licensed early education and care providers for the
Department of Early Education and Care. They also offer some regional professional development opportunities for early education and care professional.
EEC - Department of Early Education and Care, the Massachusetts state department
dedicated exclusively to the education and care of young children in the country!
EEA - Early Education for All’s Campaign's vision is to improve the well-being of
Massachusetts children and families by ensuring that all children (0-14) have
access to high-quality early education and care, by first building on the identified
strong public and political support to ensure universal access to high-quality early
education for three-, four-, and five-year olds.

EI - Early Intervention in Massachusetts is a statewide, integrated, developmental
service available to families of children between birth and three years of age.
Children may be eligible for EI if they have developmental difficulties due to
identified disabilities, or if typical development is at risk due to certain birth or
environmental circumstances. Contact Family Ties of MA for more information at

IEP - Individualized Education Program describes the educational program that has been designed by a team to meet a child's unique needs. Each child who receives special education and related services must have an IEP that is designed for that one student and must it be a truly individualized document. The IEP creates an opportunity for teachers, parents, school administrators, related services personnel, and students (when age appropriate) to work together to improve educational results for children with disabilities. The IEP is the cornerstone of a quality education for each child with a disability. The Individualized Education Program (IEP) is a legally binding document.
MACPC - Massachusetts Association of Community Partnerships for Children is the
education network for coordinators of local CFCE grants.
NAEYC - National Association for Education of Young Children is dedicated to improving
the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of
educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8.

NAFCC - The National Association for Family Child Care is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting quality child care by strengthening the profession of

QRIS - Quality Rating and Improvement System is a method to assess, improve, and
communicate the level of quality in early care & education and after-school
